Major Challenges towards Energy Management and Power Sharing in a Hybrid AC/DC Microgrid: A Review

A fundamental strategy for utilizing green energy from renewable sources to tackle global warming is the microgrid (MG). Due predominance of AC microgrids in existing power system and substantial increase DC generation load demand, development AC/DC hybrid (HMG) inevitable. Despite increased theoretical efficiency minimized AC/DC/AC conversion losses, uncertain loading, grid outages, intermittent complexion renewables have complexity, which poses a significant threat toward stability an HMG. As result, amount research on stability, management, control HMG growing exponentially, makes it imperative recognize problems emerging trends. In this survey, several strategies most recent literature developed address challenges are reviewed. Power flow analysis, sharing (energy management), local DGs, brief examination complexity HMG’s protection plans make up four elements review technique article. During critical test employed validation also taken into consideration. comprehensive demonstrates that MILP frequently supervisory HMG, whereas tweaking bidirectional converter common approach achieve efficient sharing. Finally, identified limitations, undiscovered challenges, major hurdles need be addressed order develop sustainable management scheme stable multimode operation.
